- This coverage shows known mineral deposit areas (KMDA's) in Arizona for locatable minerals. Locatable minerals include all that may be obtained by locating and perfecting mining claims under the General Mining Law of 1872. KMDAs are grouped into HIGH, MODERTE, and LOW categories.
- Purpose
- The data are created to serve as base information for use in GIS systems for a variety of planning and analysis purposes. Use of data for Engineering work is prohibited. This datasets is made available to interested persons through the University of Arizona's instance of Open Geoportal. It has been provided to assist educators, students, researchers, and policy makers in mapping and/or analysis applications.
